Per-car partnership

How do I work out each partner's share of a car?

In AutoSync each partner gets their capital back plus a share of the car's profit agreed for that car alone, and it doesn't have to match what they paid in: a partner can fund 25% of the price and take a 40% share. The app works out their share as soon as the car sells.

A worked example

Example: a partner paid EGP 150,000 towards a EGP 600,000 car, with a 40% share

  • Sale priceEGP 700,000
  • Purchase priceEGP −600,000
  • PreparationEGP −20,000
  • Partner's 40% share of the profitEGP −32,000
Showroom's earningsEGP 48,000

The car made EGP 80,000. The partner gets their EGP 150,000 capital back plus their 32,000 share, EGP 182,000 in total, despite funding only 25% of the price.

How is a partnership worked out?

  1. 1

    Partners on each car

You record each partner with what they paid into the car and their share of its profit, set for each car separately.

  2. 2

    Profit after preparation

When the car sells, the app works out its profit after preparation costs, not before.

  3. 3

    Each partner's share

Each partner gets their capital back plus their share of the profit. If the car makes a loss, it is split at the same share, and a partner can lose at most their capital in the car.

  4. 4

    Payout and statement

Paying a partner's share waits for your approval, and their statement reaches them on WhatsApp.

What changes in your day?

  • A partner gets paid in proportion to what they put in, even when the deal said otherwise.
  • Partner accounts live in a separate sheet, and every car has its own story.
  • Arguments at the end of every deal.

With AutoSync

  • Each partner's share is recorded for each car separately.
  • Shares are worked out after preparation as soon as the car sells.
  • A clear statement reaches the partner on WhatsApp.

If the car makes a loss, what does the partner bear?

The loss is split at the same share as the profit, and a partner can lose at most their capital in the car.
